Ubuntu Edge Smartphone Initiative: Ubuntu Edge fails to raise 32 million U.S dollars .

32 million dollars would Canonical solicit within one month from private individuals and companies to finance the production of the super-smartphones called as the"Ubuntu Edge". But the company "Canonical" failed to achieve its target (32 million us$ ) but was only able to make around 12 million us$.

Investment of 32 million U.S. dollars which Canonical wanted to collect from individuals and companies , nothing less than the greatest of all time crowdfunding initiative comes to an end. Canonical fails to crowd source the money needed to complete the production requirements of the self-designed super smartphone "Ubuntu Edge", a sum of money enough  for the production of about 50,000 smartphones, which is the usual batch size at contract manufacturers and makes less than half the amount with 12 million U.S dollars.

Now the funds are returned to the investors, the Ubuntu project Edge has failed. Even before Mark Shuttleworth had in the FAQ on Indiegogo explained that the Canonical smartphone would be built only upon reaching the minimum sum.

Finally, it comes to know that some 20,000 investors have committed more than 600$  for an Ubuntu edge binding. It may be assumed that most of them will buy an Ubuntu Phone with similar features at the same price. Although canonical failed to achieve the Ubuntu Edge project, the company hasn't thrown away its hopes and continues the development of its smartphone technology.
