Online operating systems - the future of computing is here .

Everyone knows about the basic operating system like Windows or Mac OS X !  There are many other ways to access your desktop, your files or applications: it's called the cloud computing! Here is a selection of five online operating system to access your files from your web browser.

1. Joli drive

Certainly the best known of all is Joli drive . Joli drive offers a desk where you can add Web applications to manage and operate files in your Dropbox, Sky drive or Google Drive accounts. To create an account, all you need is a simple email address or you can use your Facebook / Google account to signup for an account.

2. Zero PC

Zero-PC is a free online solution that allows you to have all the tools generally used by you in a single window on your computer, online. Zero-PC is able to connect to services like Evernote, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

3. Otixo

This tool allows you to manage all storage services in the cloud in the same place. It is compatible with  storage services like Dropbox, Box, Sky-Drive, Google-Drive, Sugar-Sync, Picasa, CX.com, Amazon S3, etc. The free account offered by Otixo limits bandwidth to 300 MB per month for file transfer between different cloud storage services . 

4. Eye OS

Eye-OS is a web OS with office environment type cloud computing, based on a Web interface. It allows the user to access his office files and applications from any browser on any computer, needing only a basic system for a browser to run and an Internet connection. Note that the service was available to all users at its beginning, unfortunately it is now much more focused towards companies.

5. i Spaces

i Spaces is a Java solution. It is slower than its competitors. It still offers the possibility to organize multiple virtual desktops which cab be used to: manage your files online (Dropbox or Box), take notes, organize your contacts from Google and Facebook, work with local and online files via Zoho Office etc
